Working on the March issue now... We are discovering many new talents. You guys are an amazing and creative bunch! Lovely...
We wrote a great piece about Valentine's Day and it got deleted twice. So, we gave up on that. haha However, we will tell you that we had a blast and hope you did as well. At school we had a dance and we will write a small bit about it and post a vid later. It was great that on the day of the dance all clicks set aside their differences and were just there - at the dance - getting along - dancing. Gotta say: ppl came stylin'. lol Very nice dresses and some fab shoes!!!! yup yup. Tho we all were asked by boys that totally did not matter in the end. And that made it awesome. Who says you have to have a date date. Some brought friends, sisters, brothers, cousins and yes.... boyfriends. It was quite refreshing the way things went. No drama for one entire dance party. If every day could be this peaceful and fun, school would be fantastically perfect.
In other news, sadly the very talented Whitney Houston passed away. Somehow, my mom has a connection to her relatives and so I grew up listening to a lot of her songs. My all time fav is: I wanna dance with somebody. She looks fab and so amazingly happy in that video. Though the vid is totally outdated and screams of neon colors and does not have the super vid effects... it is just happy and fun!!!! luv luv luv it! So sad she passed on so early in life. Would love to meet her daughter one day. She looks amazing. All the reports about their fam struggles are not really necessary at this time. Wish the press would just cool their heels for a sec. Imagine, you are in school right not and you get word your mom or dad just passed. So sad. Our warm regards go to all fam members inc. Bobby Brown, Bobby Kristina's Dad. The entire world feels the loss of another talented person... too soon.
Unfortunately, this is the second untimely death of an amazingly creative soul this month, reminder: Black History Month!
That said, we thought to bring you some interesting facts about African American people who were very important in history as well.
Benjamin Banneker: First clock to made in America ... this gentleman and his genius reached far beyond a clock however. He truly set a mile stone as far as African Americans in History go.
Otis Boykin: is invention led to the pacemaker - which saves so very many lives! to this day. Had he not invented his device we would not have this life-saving device today.
Marie Van Brittan Brown: invented together with Albert Brown a closed-circuit television security system. Do you feel safe today? Her invention is the groundwork for our modern security systems in our homes!
Dr. Particia Bath: the 'Right to Sight' is her motto. Thanks to this Dr. we have the surgery system available which many people use to get their sight back.
George Washington Carver: discovered the many uses for peanuts, such as: cooking oil, axle grease and Printer's ink. He was also the very first African American to be allowed to attend Iowa-State.
George Crum: Inventor of Potato Chips... do we need to say more, really?
Dr. Charles Drew: Inventor of Blood Banks! Imagine the wold without it....
Kenneth J. Dunkley: Inventor of 3-D glasses and Holograms! our every fun comes was brought to us thanks to this amazing person.
Dr. Phillip Emeagwali: Inventor of the worlds fastest computer.
Dr. Shirley Jackson: Inventor of Telecommunications Inventions, such as portable fax, touch tone telephone, solar cell and fiber optic cables!!! Caller ID and call waiting......
Lonnie G Johnson: Inventor of the Super Soaker!
Frederick McKinley Jones: Refrigerator Inventions, inc. for long haul trucks and railroad cars as well as roof top cooling systems....does that ring a bell? His invention came about after a truck driver lost an entire load of chicken because he could not make it to his destination before all the ice melted.
There are so many more inventors, musicians and amazing people such as Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King that contribute to our comfy daily life. And although the greatness reaches far beyond African-American people, this month consider the awesomeness of black people in history. So many things we take for granted every day. Consider the people who made them possible. BTW: did you notice that many of the above listed people are doctors? Well, hold the Dr. title or became a professor. Education is key, for all of us. It seems cliche because we hear it all the time, and here it is again. It starts with curiosity and interest develops into a drive and excels in education in one way or another. We surely do not like school all the time, but we all have dreams for our future. Guys, it does look like education is a huge part of that. :)
That said, next time you get bullied or are bullying a person... consider who they might become in life.. or might not as a result of such action. Time seems endless now but one day it may be short, too fast. Positivity unfolds more potential!!!! Good luck to all of us.....
